TOEFL Review Exercise skill one to seventeen

In this exercise listen carefully the short conversation and question in the recording and then choose the best answer to the question.

1.      Skill 1(focus on the second line)

      Use skill 3: Avoid similar sound

          Woman     :  Could you put some more wood in the fire place?

           Man          :  I have to bring some  from outside.

           Narrator    :  What does the man imply?

           a.       There’s no more wood inside

IDK THE TITTLE

“Hardwork beats talent when talent doesn’t work” – Tim Notke

          Sepertinya kata-kata itu sudah ada sejak lama tapi entah tanpa sengaja atau disengaja oleh tuhan sehingga quotes itu sangat mudah ditemukan belakangan waktu ini. Pandangan mata yang mulai sayu, kepala yang mulai terpangku diatas tangan, dan hembusan nafas yang mulai pelan didapati terkejut oleh adanya quotes itu, seperti membangkitkan kembali energi-energi yang sudah padam. Tapi toh, bangkit saja itu tidak cukup. Jika beberapa orang percaya diri dengan membanggakan kata-kata “yang penting niat dulu, berkeinginan dulu………………..” terhadap mimpinya. Tapi ini lain, kata-kata atau makna dibalik kata-kata itu tidak membanggakan sama sekali. Yah pada akhirnya tertahan dalam keyakinan bahwa bangkit aja itu enggak cukup, niat aja enggak cukup. Tunggu, bangkit dan niat itu sebenarnya berkemungkinan berbeda maksud, tapi tetap saja yang bangkit akan berkelanjutan dengan niat atau berkeinganan (kembali).

Yang terbiasa terjatuh mungkin tidak bisa ditembus dengan kata-kata semacam itu, yang terbiasa terjatuh sudah kenyang dengan pengalaman…………….yang terbiasa terjatuh kadang pula tidak sadar bahwa dia sudah mendapatkan apa yang sepantasnya dia dapatkan; bukan apa yang dia cari. Tapi manusia tetaplah manusia, selalu ingin mendapatkan apa yang mereka cari dan mereka inginkan. Mereka, tepatnya beberapa dari mereka lupa bahwa segala sesuatu memiliki porsinya masing-masing. Padahal mereka punya tuhan, mereka punya agama…………..bukankah semua agama mengajari umatnya untuk bersyukur atas apa yang telah diterima oleh pribadi masing-masing. Terkadang sehebat apapun ilmu agama yang dimiliki, manusia tetaplah manusia; mereka tidak bisa dipisahkan oleh adanya nafsu. Tapi tidak bisa dipisahkan bukan berarti tidak bisa mengkontrol, nafsu tetaplah bukan hal yang baik. Tunggu ini berbelit, berulang kali menulis berbelit.

Hasil selalu sesuai dengan seberapa besar usaha, perjuangan dan seberapa banyak keringat, energy yang terkuras. Tidak ada usaha yang sia-sia didunia ini, semuanya seimbang. Hanya saja terkadang manusia terlalu buta untuk melihat mana hasil mana ujian, apa yang sesungguhnya hasil malah kita anggap ujian sehingga lupa berucap syukur. Seberapa hebat sebuah kemampuan, minat dan bakat; tetaplah hanya akan menjadi seonggok segel “kemampuan-bakat-minat” apabila tanpa usah dan perjuangan didalamnya. Bakat itu seperti apa, biarpun melekat dengan erat bersamaan dengan kayu yang dibakar pada akhirnya dia akan padam apabila kayu dibiarkan terkena angin lewat tanpa usah menyelamatkan kayu dari terpaan angina itu. Hasil tidak pernah dengan adanya doa dan usaha diawal.

Quote itu sepertinya dirancang ada didunia untuk memberi peringatan kepada mereka yang merasa memiliki kemampuan dan bakat, tapi terlena menikmati dunia tanpa mau bekerja keras lewat kemampuan dan bakatnya. Quote itu tersebar dengan tujuang memberi motivasi pada mereka yang sampai saat ini belum bisa menemukan bakatnya, bahwa bakat berada dibawah kendali kerja keras untuk mendapatkan hasilnya. Bakat tidak berarti apa-apa tanpa kerja keras, sedangkan kerja keras tidak pernah berkhianat terhadap para pelakunya. Maka berjuanglah, apapun itu…………bagaimana bentuk selama itu positif. Lihatlah hal-hal kecil sebagai hasil, agar kita senantias belajar dan terus belajar.
